What Engineering does in WoW Forever

Blizzard lists vendors and repairs among what a campsite can offer; in Wowhead’s beta guide, Engineering’s bots are the camp objects that sell reagents and repair gear.

The 77 new Engineering recipes in the beta client lean on the SAF-T and EZ-Thro lines of bombs and devices, with fireworks, goggles and transport devices to Mount Hyjal, Gadgetzan and Everlook.

Engineering camp objects

• The beta client (build 1.60.1.69913) has Engineering’s camp recipes at skill 20, 140 and 300.
• You need the profession to place an object, but anyone resting at the camp gets its effect. Objects can be traded, and crafting one makes two.
• How campfires, resting and the shared one-hour cooldown work: WoW Forever professions and camping.

Does the Engineering camp buff stack with class buffs?

Camp buffs are variants of buffs that classes already bring, and Blizzard says they don’t stack with them: a camp fills in for a missing class rather than adding a second buff.

None of our sources names a class buff that one of Engineering’s camp objects collides with.

New Engineering recipes in the beta client

The beta client (build 1.60.1.69913) has 77 Engineering recipes whose spells the Classic Era client (1.15.9.69722) doesn’t have. The Era client also carries every Season of Discovery recipe, so those don’t count as new here. This is client data, not Blizzard’s list: a recipe in the files can change or never ship, and the files don’t say where you learn it.

The groups are the recipe categories of the profession window. Yellow and grey are the skill at which the client turns the recipe yellow (a skill-up is no longer certain) and grey (no more skill-ups); the skill you need to learn it isn’t in these tables.

Some of these recipes only turn yellow at skill 320, above Classic’s cap of 300. Blizzard hasn’t announced Forever’s skill cap.

Blizzard counts 600+ new recipes across all professions; this list counts client records and leaves out the camp objects above, so the two numbers don’t have to match. Also left out: 4 Engineering recipes that Classic Era already has under the same name, remade here with a new spell ID.

Engineering in the Legacy system

Forever’s account-wide Legacy system gives a Legacy Point the first time you take a tradeskill to 150, 225 and 300 skill, so Engineering alone is worth three. These perks touch it (first rank, as seen in the demo):

• Working Overtime (Professions tree): 4% higher chance of a skill-up from primary, secondary and class tradeskills.
• Dedicated Study (Professions tree): Raises your lowest primary or secondary tradeskill by 1. Once both primary tradeskills and all three secondary ones reach 300, it gives 2 to 4 random Elemental Essences instead. 25 sec cast, 23 hr cooldown.
• Reagent Economy (Resourcefulness tree): Class abilities no longer need reagents bought from vendors, and Tier 1 camping features cost no reagents to craft.
• Field Guide (Adventure tree): The cooldown for adding camping features is 8% shorter.
• Permanence (Resourcefulness tree): Your long-duration party and raid buffs, and the benefits of resting at a camp, last 50% longer.
