Herbalism in WoW Forever

Herbalism is one of the three gathering professions you can get for free early in Forever, and it has camp objects of its own: an Incense Candle at skill 20 that raises Intellect for the camp, a Greenhouse that grows herbs from seeds, and a Seed Hybridizer that combines seeds into rarer ones.

Camp objects and buffs as on our WoW Forever professions and camping page, from Blizzard’s Deep Dive recap and Wowhead’s and Icy Veins’ beta guides; recipes from beta client build 1.60.1.69913. Last reviewed: .

What Herbalism does in WoW Forever

The Incense Candle is Blizzard’s own example of the stacking rule: its Intellect doesn’t stack with a mage’s Arcane Intellect, so it matters most in a group without a mage.

The Greenhouse and the Seed Hybridizer turn herbs into something you grow at a camp as well as gather, per Wowhead’s beta guide; where the seeds come from hasn’t been described.

  • The beta client (build 1.60.1.69913) has Herbalism’s camp recipes at skill 20, 140 and 300.
  • You need the profession to place an object, but anyone resting at the camp gets its effect. Objects can be traded, and crafting one makes two.

Does the Herbalism camp buff stack with class buffs?

Camp buffs are variants of buffs that classes already bring, and Blizzard says they don’t stack with them: a camp fills in for a missing class rather than adding a second buff.

Get Herbalism free in the starter zone

A quest at about level 3–4 in the starter zones rewards a choice of three manuals: Herbalism, Mining or Skinning. Per Wowhead’s roundup of Blizzard’s panels, the manual teaches you the profession if you don’t have it yet and don’t already have two professions.

New Herbalism recipes in the beta client

The beta client (build 1.60.1.69913) has no Herbalism recipes that Classic Era (1.15.9.69722) doesn’t have, apart from the three camp objects above.

Herbalism in the Legacy system

Forever’s account-wide Legacy system gives a Legacy Point the first time you take a tradeskill to 150, 225 and 300 skill, so Herbalism alone is worth three. These perks touch it (first rank, as seen in the demo):

  • Bountiful Harvest (Professions tree): Find 20% more Scarce materials through Mining, Herbalism and Skinning.
  • Working Overtime (Professions tree): 4% higher chance of a skill-up from primary, secondary and class tradeskills.
  • Dedicated Study (Professions tree): Raises your lowest primary or secondary tradeskill by 1. Once both primary tradeskills and all three secondary ones reach 300, it gives 2 to 4 random Elemental Essences instead. 25 sec cast, 23 hr cooldown.
  • Reagent Economy (Resourcefulness tree): Class abilities no longer need reagents bought from vendors, and Tier 1 camping features cost no reagents to craft.
  • Field Guide (Adventure tree): The cooldown for adding camping features is 8% shorter.
  • Permanence (Resourcefulness tree): Your long-duration party and raid buffs, and the benefits of resting at a camp, last 50% longer.
