What Mining does in WoW Forever

A Rock Garden is the closest thing to a mining node you can place: Wowhead’s beta guide says it grows one common node over time.

Blizzard’s October 1 beta notes cut the number of Poor Copper Veins in the starter areas.

Get Mining free in the starter zone

A quest at about level 3–4 in the starter zones rewards a choice of three manuals: Herbalism, Mining or Skinning. Per Wowhead’s roundup of Blizzard’s panels, the manual teaches you the profession if you don’t have it yet and don’t already have two professions.

Where the new Mining recipes fit, skill 1 to 300

The new recipes on the skill bands of the four training ranks, each placed at the skill where the client turns it yellow. Below that skill a recipe is orange or yellow and gives skill-ups; at grey it stops. Use it to see which band has something new to level with; the route between them is still the Classic one.

Mining recipes in the beta client

Every Mining recipe in beta client 1.60.1.70755: 14 recipes, 2 of them new in Forever. Filter by category, search a recipe or a reagent, and read the skill colors left to right: learnable, yellow, green, grey.

They are smelting recipes: Azerothium, which Classic Era doesn’t have, and Heavy Thorium.

Client data, not Blizzard’s list: a recipe in the files can change or never ship, and where a recipe item drops or is sold isn’t in the client. Blizzard counts 600+ new recipes across all professions; this count leaves out camp objects, so the two don’t have to match.

Mining in the Legacy system

Forever’s account-wide Legacy system gives tradeskill Legacy Points only for primary professions that aren’t gathering ones, so Mining earns none. These perks still touch it (first rank, as seen in the demo):

• Bountiful Harvest (Professions tree): Find 20% more Scarce materials through Mining, Herbalism and Skinning.
• Working Overtime (Professions tree): 4% higher chance of a skill-up from primary, secondary and class tradeskills.
• Dedicated Study (Professions tree): Raises your lowest primary or secondary tradeskill by 1. Once both primary tradeskills and all three secondary ones reach 300, it gives 2 to 4 of a random Elemental Essence instead. 25 sec cast, 23 hr cooldown.
• Reagent Economy (Resourcefulness tree): Class abilities no longer need reagents bought from vendors, and Tier 1 camping features cost no reagents to craft.
• Field Guide (Adventure tree): The cooldown for adding camping features is 8% shorter.
• Permanence (Resourcefulness tree): Your long-duration party and raid buffs, and the benefits of resting at a camp, last 50% longer.
