WoW Forever Druid

Skyborne on both factions can be Druids in Forever, with forms made for the race. Feral ends in Berserk and Restoration in Wild Growth, and Improved Mark of the Wild is now part of the class.

Official changes come from Blizzard's Deep Dive, What's Next and Found Photos panels; talent facts come from the same talent data as our calculator (where it comes from); hands-on reports are marked. Last reviewed: .

Talent paths

Talents, leveling and weapons for each tree.

01 Is a Druid right for you?

A Druid can tank as a bear, deal damage as a cat or a caster, and heal, often in the same dungeon, which in Classic made it the most flexible class and the one most often told to heal. Forever keeps that range and adds tools from later expansions: Primal Bite (the old Mangle) and Berserk for Feral, Eclipse for Balance, Wild Growth for Restoration, and in the beta client Omen of Clarity and Revive for every Druid. Skyborne on both factions can be Druids, with forms made for the race.

You’ll enjoy it if

  • You want every role on one character: bear tank, cat damage, Moonkin caster or healer.
  • You want to travel well: Travel Form, Aquatic Form, Dash and Teleport: Moonglade.
  • You want a normal resurrection: Revive at 12 in the beta client, as players reported from the demo.
  • You like the new Skyborne look: Skyborne Druids get forms of their own.

Think twice if

  • You played Feral for powershifting. Blizzard removed it on purpose: Furor now keeps Energy ticking while you’re out of Cat Form but empties it when you go Bear. Its replacement is the Shifting Power talent, in the beta since build 1.60.1.70170.
  • You want to root and forget: Entangling Roots holds one target at a time unless you take Overgrowth (Balance).
  • You want one spec’s gear to do everything: bear, cat, caster and healer all want different items.

What groups want from you

  • Mark of the Wild, now with Improved Mark of the Wild built in and an hour long in the beta client.
  • A tank in Bear Form, with Growl on a shorter cooldown and Lacerate at 42 for threat.
  • Healing with Rejuvenation, Regrowth and, at 31 points, Wild Growth for the party; Innervate for the healer.
  • Rebirth in combat, Remove Curse (which also removes Banes) and Abolish Poison.

Solo play and gold

Solo, a Druid levels in Cat Form from 20 or as a caster with Wrath and Moonfire before that, and bear-tanks anything that goes wrong. Wrath costs half as much mana in the beta client, and Omen of Clarity, a trainer spell at 20 now, makes some attacks and spells free. With kills taking 10–15 seconds from about level 10–15, shifting out to heal and back in is how a Druid avoids eating. Cat Form itself comes from a quest at 20 (The Great Cat Spirit, a Windborne version for Skyborne): three relics from the Stormrage Barrow Dens in Moonglade. A bug that left Druids queuing at the relics was fixed on September 28.

Leather armor and Herbalism suit a Druid. The Herbalism Incense Candle adds Intellect at camp and the Leatherworking Camp Tent rested experience.

02 Three ways to play a Druid

Feral ends in Berserk and Restoration in Wild Growth; Balance keeps Moonkin Form. Omen of Clarity and Nature’s Grasp leave Balance and become trainer spells, and Improved Mark of the Wild leaves Restoration and becomes part of Mark of the Wild. The icons show the talents in the Druid Talent Calculator; hover or tap one for its full tooltip.

Balance

Caster damage · Moonkin

Eclipse ties Wrath to Starfire: each Wrath shortens your next two Starfires, storing up to four charges, so Balance alternates Wrath and Starfire instead of casting one spell. Nature’s Majesty adds critical strike to spells and melee, Genesis strengthens every damage and healing over time, and Nature’s Splendor makes Moonfire, Rejuvenation, Regrowth and Insect Swarm last longer.

Overgrowth lets Entangling Roots hold more targets, which matters because Roots holds only one at a time in the beta client. Moonkin Form stays at 31 points; its tooltip also doubles Omen of Clarity’s chance, now that every Druid has Omen.

Feral Combat

Cat damage and bear tank

Primal Bite, called Mangle until beta build 1.60.1.70009, is a Feral talent and Berserk, the new 31-point talent, makes it hit up to three targets with no cooldown and doubles the critical strike chance of combo point builders for a short time, with a fear break. Build 1.60.1.70170 removed Tiger’s Fury and King of the Jungle. In their place Shifting Power, a 16-point Cat talent behind Shredding Attacks, instantly turns 55% of base Mana into 40 Energy on a 16-second cooldown (8 seconds with Improved Shifting Power), beside Primal Bite, the Bear 16-point talent, whose threat Blizzard roughly doubled.

For bears, Natural Reaction adds dodge and gives Rage on every dodge, and Lacerate is a trainer ability at 42. Natural Instinct (Predatory Instincts until the October 8 beta build) raises melee critical damage and adds 12/25% of your Intellect to spell healing, and Rend and Tear raises damage on bleeding targets. The beta client’s Tier 1 sets name a separate Guardian Druid set for bears, which suggests bear tanking gets its own gear.

Restoration

Healer · heals over time

Wild Growth replaces Swiftmend at 31 points: a party heal over time that heals fastest at the start. Swiftmend is still in the tree. Gift of the Earthmother shortens the global cooldown of Rejuvenation, Swiftmend and Wild Growth, so Restoration can put more heals over time out, faster.

Naturalist, the former Improved Healing Touch, shortens Healing Touch and adds damage, and Living Spirit raises Spirit. Regrowth costs noticeably less mana in the beta client. Improved Enrage is baseline now.

03 The road to 60

A Druid is a caster until 10 (Wrath, Moonfire, Rejuvenation, Entangling Roots), a bear from 10 and a cat from 20, which is when most Classic Druids switched to Feral for leveling. The beta client adds Nature’s Grasp at 10, Revive at 12 and Omen of Clarity at 20 for every Druid, so the first twenty levels are more comfortable than in Classic.

Dungeon enemies give much less experience in Forever and dungeon quests much more; a Druid that can tank or heal fills any group for each dungeon’s first run (the WoW Forever dungeons guide lists all 9). The experience needed to reach 60 is the same as in Classic: Wowhead retracted its datamine of a lower curve after Blizzard explained the file isn’t used by the game (see the WoW Forever leveling guide).

04 Pick your race

Only three races can be Druids, and each has a clear strength. Night Elf Shadowmeld drops you out of combat and Elune’s Light is a critical strike burst, and Quickness adds dodge for bears. Tauren Plainsrunning builds speed while you keep moving and works in Bear Form, and Endurance is 5% Health only; War Stomp stuns around you.

The Skyborne are Druids on both factions, with Druid forms made for the race, Wind Blessed Haste and Walk on Air to glide. The Alliance’s High Order also get Read Leyline (50% Health and Mana regeneration for 15 seconds, 100% while Attuned at a Ley Line), useful for Balance and Restoration.

05 Coming from Classic

Three Classic talents are now part of the class: Improved Mark of the Wild (Blizzard), Omen of Clarity and Nature’s Grasp (trainer spells in the beta client). Revive gives Druids a resurrection out of combat. For Feral, Primal Bite (Mangle before build 1.60.1.70009) and Berserk arrive, and since build 1.60.1.70170 Shifting Power replaces Tiger’s Fury and powershifting, which changes Classic’s shift-for-Energy cat play.

Entangling Roots holds one target at a time in the beta client, and Frenzied Regeneration heals by a share of your health rather than a flat amount. Every changed trainer ability is in WoW Forever Druid abilities.

What changes for Druids

  • Blizzard

Improved Mark of the Wild is no longer a talent: its effect is part of the class.

  • Blizzard

Skyborne Druids get new forms created for the race.

  • Game data

Feral ends in Berserk and Restoration in Wild Growth; Mangle (Primal Bite in the beta client since build 1.60.1.70009) and Eclipse join the trees, and talent text refers to Lacerate.

  • Player reports

Players report Druids get Revive, a normal resurrection.

  • Blizzard

October 1 beta build: Tiger’s Fury is gone. Feral’s answer to powershifting is the new talent Shifting Power: in Cat Form, turn 55% of base Mana into 40 Energy at once, on a 16-second cooldown that Improved Shifting Power cuts by up to 8 seconds.

  • Blizzard

Every shapeshift form is immune to Disarm, and Faerie Fire no longer resets your swing timer.

  • Blizzard

Bear Form and Dire Bear Form generate 100% more Rage on a critical strike (75% before the October 8 build), Swipe now gains 3% of your attack power, and Primal Bite makes about twice the threat.

  • Blizzard

On the WoW Forever Podcast episode 2, the developers explained the change: powershifting was hard to understand and filled every global cooldown, Shifting Power makes Intellect and Innervate matter for Ferals, and hybrids such as Druids do about 5% less damage than pure damage classes.

  • Blizzard

Blizzard’s Class Highlights video (part 3, October 6) says Druids can use consumables such as potions while shapeshifted, that the equipped weapon now adds to melee damage in Bear Form, and that weapon enchants and procs work in forms (it names the Crusader enchant and Windfury Totem). Feral Charge can be used in Cat Form, and Feral Swiftness now works indoors.

  • Blizzard

October 8 beta build: Bear Form and Dire Bear Form add 50% threat instead of 30%, and Rage from taking damage was fixed as it was for Warriors. Thorns is back to its Classic base damage and takes 6% of spell power instead of 13.3%. Predatory Instincts is renamed Natural Instinct and also adds 12/25% of your Intellect to spell healing. Mana Potions work in Bear and Cat Form, Cat Form no longer lowers your maximum health, Shifting Power can’t be used at full Energy, and Wolfshead Helm now adds 5 Energy to Shifting Power while keeping its Rage effect. Fewer effects can replace your form’s look: Blizzard wants other players to see which form a Druid is in.

06 Before you log in

  • Decide which roles you’ll play. Bear and cat share Feral, but healing and Moonkin need their own points; compare builds in the WoW Forever Talent Calculator.
  • Skyborne? Both factions can be Skyborne Druids, but only with the Skyborne packs; the Skyborne page has the editions.
  • Spend Legacy Points on Reagent Economy if you raid. Rebirth and Gift of the Wild use vendor reagents in Classic; the perk removes them. The WoW Forever Legacy guide has it.
  • Hardcore? Bear Form, Travel Form and self-heals make a Druid hard to kill; the WoW Forever Hardcore page has the ruleset.
  • PvP? Omen of Clarity for every build and Shifting Power’s instant Energy change cat PvP most, while Roots on one target at a time limits Balance control. See WoW Forever PvP.

WoW Forever Druid FAQ

Can Skyborne be Druids in WoW Forever?

Yes, on both factions, with Druid forms created for the race.

Do Druids get a normal resurrection in WoW Forever?

Players who tried the demo report Revive. Blizzard hasn’t confirmed it.

Does powershifting still work?

Not the Classic way, by player reports. In the beta client the Furor talent at 5 points gives back the Energy you had when you last left Cat Form, plus 10 Energy for each second spent outside Cat Form, up to 100; going into Bear Form or Dire Bear Form forfeits it. Since the October 1 beta build Feral also has Shifting Power, which turns 55% of base Mana into 40 Energy on a 16-second cooldown.

Which races can be a Druid in WoW Forever?

Night Elf, Tauren, and Skyborne. Skyborne is new to the class in Forever.

What are the Druid 31-point talents in WoW Forever?

Balance: Moonkin Form; Feral Combat: Berserk (new, replacing Leader of the Pack); Restoration: Wild Growth (new, replacing Swiftmend).

Do Druids get a normal resurrection in WoW Forever?

Yes, in the beta client: Revive is a trainer spell at level 12 that brings a dead player back out of combat. Players reported it from the demo too.

Is Omen of Clarity a talent in WoW Forever?

No. In the beta client every Druid learns it from the trainer at level 20.

What replaces powershifting for Feral Druids?

Shifting Power. Furor now empties your Energy when you go Bear, to stop bear-weaving, and Blizzard gives the burst back as Shifting Power: a 16-point Feral talent that turns 55% of base Mana into 40 Energy on a 16-second cooldown, 8 with Improved Shifting Power. It replaced Tiger’s Fury in beta build 1.60.1.70170.
