Talent Data Updates
Each time the talent data behind the WoW Forever Talent Calculator is rebuilt, it gets an entry here: where the data came from, which talents changed and how the update was checked. Newest first.

BlizzCon demo data, rebuilt
Rebuilt from updated community transcriptions: 405 talents confirmed by three or more sources, up from 381. Higher ranks the demo didn't show went from 80 to 62, Riposte and Quietus gained their prerequisites, and estimates that couldn't be right, such as a chance above 100%, were dropped.

First dataset, from the BlizzCon 2026 demo
470 talents across 9 classes, from community transcriptions of the demo, cross-checked.
From the BlizzCon demo to the beta client
On September 17, 2026 the talent data behind the calculator and every talent and class page was rebuilt from the World of Warcraft: Forever beta client, build 1.60.1.69893. Before that it came from community transcriptions of the BlizzCon 2026 demo. Compared with that demo data:
- Talents
- 468
- 470 in the demo data
- Rank texts
- 1322
- all but 1 rendered from the client
- Estimated ranks
- 0
- 688 in the demo data
- New icons
- 58
- same talent, the client’s icon
Demo talents the beta client doesn’t have
| Talent | Class | In the demo data | In the beta client |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vitality | Warrior, Protection | Tier 5, column 4 | Not in the tree |
| Balance of Nature | Druid, Balance | Tier 3, column 4 | Not in the tree |
| Restless Blades | Rogue, Combat | Tier 4, column 2 | Replaced by Flawless Execution, a different talent |
| Drain Hope | Warlock, Affliction | Tier 7, column 2 | Renamed Wrack, same spot |
Talents that moved
| Talent | Class | In the demo data | In the beta client |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bastion | Warrior, Protection | Tier 6, column 3 | Tier 5, column 4 |
| Focused Rage | Warrior, Protection | Tier 6, column 1 | Tier 6, column 3 |
| Tidal Mastery | Shaman, Restoration | Tier 1, column 3 | Tier 4, column 1 |
| Totemic Focus | Shaman, Restoration | Tier 4, column 1 | Tier 1, column 3 |
| Conflagrate | Warlock, Destruction | Needs Shadowburn | No prerequisite |
The other 461 talents are in the same tree and spot in both, with the same max rank and prerequisites.
Rank texts, icons and names
- Rank texts from the client. Each rank’s tooltip text is rendered from the client’s own spell data, with that rank’s numbers. For 31 ranks the numbers depend on the character, such as damage that grows with level or spell power, so the tooltip shows a level 60 reference character’s values and says so.
- Text from the demo. The client data can’t fill in 1 rank of Riposte, so that rank keeps its text from the BlizzCon demo and is marked.
- No estimates. The demo data had 688 estimated ranks, 62 of them with no text at all; now there are 0. Where the client’s text differs from the demo’s, the client’s is used: of the 466 talents in both, 406 have the same rank 1 text word for word.
- Icons. 58 talents show a different icon than in the demo data, now the one the client uses.
- Chinese names. The Chinese versions of the calculator now use the talent names and rank texts from the client’s own Chinese text, and translate only what the client doesn’t have in Chinese yet.
Build links made before this update
Links made with the demo data still open. Points in a talent that was removed or replaced are dropped, points in a renamed talent move to its new name, and points in a talent that moved stay with it. The calculator shows one notice when it opens such a link: how many points were dropped, or that the link was converted to the current trees.
How this update was checked
- The beta client’s talent tables for build 1.60.1.69893 were read through public exports of the client data and compared with the demo data talent by talent: tree, spot, max rank, prerequisites, icon and every rank’s text. The tables above list every difference in the trees.
- Where the client and the demo disagree, the client wins. New and changed talents are still measured against the Classic Era client, build 1.15.9.69722, so those marks follow the new data.
- Every build link of the demo data with a single point was opened on the new trees: each point came back as its own talent or its renamed one, or was dropped with the notice, never as a different talent.
- How the talent data is sourced and checked at every stage is on the About page.
Talent data updates FAQ
Which talent data does the calculator use now?
The World of Warcraft: Forever beta client, build 1.60.1.69893. Every rebuild is listed on this page with its date.
Why did my old build link lose points?
It was made with older talent data. Points in talents the current trees don’t have are dropped, and the calculator tells you how many. The tables above list the talents that were removed or replaced.
Will the talents change again?
Probably. Blizzard can change talents in any beta build and before launch. When a new client build changes the talents, the data is rebuilt from it and the update is listed here.
Still unconfirmed
- How many points a prerequisite talent needs: the client links a talent to the one it needs without a rank, so the calculator asks for the prerequisite to be maxed, as in Classic
- Whether the client tables read for build 1.60.1.69893 include Blizzard’s hotfixes
- Whether Improved Serpent Sting is gone: the client still has it in the Marksmanship data, but outside the talent grid, so the calculator leaves it out
- How much later beta builds and launch will change the talents
