Survival Hunter talents

Survival Hunter guide →

Survival is the most reworked hunter tree. Monster Slaying and Humanoid Slaying are merged into Improved Tracking at tier 1, which adds damage against the creature type you track; Wyvern Sting, Killer Instinct and Improved Feign Death are merged into Resourcefulness, which cuts the mana cost of traps and melee abilities; and Trap Mastery is now Survival Tactics. The new talents lean on melee and traps: Predator's Edge adds melee crit damage and off-hand damage, and Expose Prey gives attacks on a Hunter's Mark target a chance to enable Mongoose Bite. Expose Prey leads to the new 31-point Lacerating Strikes, which makes Mongoose Bite apply a bleed.

Hunter talent FAQ

Is Aimed Shot still a talent in WoW Forever?

No, and it doesn’t need to be. Aimed Shot was a tier 3 Marksmanship talent in Classic; Blizzard’s deep dive makes it a baseline ability every hunter gets at level 20, and Barrage still boosts it.

What are the Hunter 31-point talents in Forever?

Beast Mastery keeps Bestial Wrath. Marksmanship gets Sniper Shot, which requires Trueshot Aura, and Survival gets Lacerating Strikes, which requires Expose Prey. Wyvern Sting, the Classic Survival capstone, is folded into the Resourcefulness talent.

Can a hunter play without a pet in Forever?

The trees support it directly: Lone Wolf, a 1-rank Marksmanship talent at tier 3, gives 20% more damage with all attacks while you don't have an active pet.

Which hunter talents moved tiers?

Trueshot Aura moves from tier 7 to tier 4, Counterattack from 5 to 4, Surefooted from 4 to 3, Hawk Eye from 3 to 1, and Pathfinding and Survivalist from 3 to 2. Efficiency goes the other way, from tier 1 to tier 2.
