Cooking in WoW Forever

Cooking is the heart of camping in Forever: the old Cooking Fire becomes the Basic Campfire every camp is built around. Cooks can upgrade it to a Journeyman Campfire at skill 90 and an Expert Campfire at 200, which hold 5 and 10 camp objects instead of 3.

Camp objects and buffs as on our WoW Forever professions and camping page, from Blizzard’s Deep Dive recap and Wowhead’s and Icy Veins’ beta guides; recipes from beta client build 1.60.1.69913. Last reviewed: .

What Cooking does in WoW Forever

Food changed too. Blizzard says almost all crafted food now gives stats plus a small experience bonus; the example shown at BlizzCon gave Intellect and 5% more experience from kills, with a 15-minute Well Fed buff after eating for 10 seconds.

Its tiers are campfires, so Cooking’s other two camp objects sit beside them: Cookie’s Feast, Stamina food for the camp, at skill 140, and an Iron Oven at 300 for the most advanced recipes.

Tier 1Basic Campfire — the camp itself1
Tier 2Journeyman Campfire, Cookie’s Feast — a bigger camp, Stamina food90
Tier 3Expert Campfire, Iron Oven — the biggest camp, advanced cooking200
  • The beta client (build 1.60.1.69913) has the campfires at skill 1, 90 and 200, Cookie’s Feast at 140 and the Iron Oven at 300.
  • You need the profession to place an object, but anyone resting at the camp gets its effect. Objects can be traded, and crafting one makes two.

Does the Cooking camp buff stack with class buffs?

Camp buffs are variants of buffs that classes already bring, and Blizzard says they don’t stack with them: a camp fills in for a missing class rather than adding a second buff.

None of our sources names a class buff that one of Cooking’s camp objects collides with.

New Cooking recipes in the beta client

The beta client (build 1.60.1.69913) has 39 Cooking recipes whose spells the Classic Era client (1.15.9.69722) doesn’t have. The Era client also carries every Season of Discovery recipe, so those don’t count as new here. This is client data, not Blizzard’s list: a recipe in the files can change or never ship, and the files don’t say where you learn it.

The groups are the recipe categories of the profession window. Yellow and grey are the skill at which the client turns the recipe yellow (a skill-up is no longer certain) and grey (no more skill-ups); the skill you need to learn it isn’t in these tables.

Among them are teas and smoothies, and food for Strength, Agility, Intellect and Stamina.

Cooking in the Legacy system

Forever’s account-wide Legacy system gives a Legacy Point the first time you take a tradeskill to 150, 225 and 300 skill, so Cooking alone is worth three. These perks touch it (first rank, as seen in the demo):

  • Working Overtime (Professions tree): 4% higher chance of a skill-up from primary, secondary and class tradeskills.
  • Dedicated Study (Professions tree): Raises your lowest primary or secondary tradeskill by 1. Once both primary tradeskills and all three secondary ones reach 300, it gives 2 to 4 random Elemental Essences instead. 25 sec cast, 23 hr cooldown.
  • Master Chef (Professions tree): Cooking recipes have a 10% chance to make an extra item.
  • Gourmand (Resourcefulness tree): Food buffs last 33% longer.
  • Reagent Economy (Resourcefulness tree): Class abilities no longer need reagents bought from vendors, and Tier 1 camping features cost no reagents to craft.
  • Field Guide (Adventure tree): The cooldown for adding camping features is 8% shorter.
  • Permanence (Resourcefulness tree): Your long-duration party and raid buffs, and the benefits of resting at a camp, last 50% longer.

Every perk, its tree and where it was seen: WoW Forever Legacy system.
