WoW Forever Beta Datamine: New Items

The Forever beta client (build 1.60.1.69913) carries 6,715 item IDs that the Classic Era client (1.15.9.69722) doesn’t have. Leave out the ones without a name, the NPC and test items and old items under new IDs, and 4,756 new items are left. This page groups them the way a player asks: what kind of item, at what level, for which slot and class, and which parts of Forever they point to.

Counted by us from the client’s own tables on . The client is a beta: what’s in it can change or be cut before launch.

Where the new gear sits in 1–60

Sorted by the level needed to wear it, the new gear is weighted to the two ends. Level 60 and 51–59 together hold more than a third of it, and most of the epics are at 60. The middle levels get a steady hundred or so pieces per ten levels, mostly green and blue, which fits new zones and dungeons being added across the whole journey rather than a new endgame only (the leveling guide has the zones and dungeons by level).

The large first row is gear with no level requirement at all. It isn’t low-level gear: its item levels run from 1 to 60, and besides the edition transmog, tabards and the “Restored” pieces it holds ordinary rewards the client sets no level for. For those, the item level says more than this table.

Slots and armor types

Leather (416) and cloth (412) get the most new armor, mail (352) a little less and plate (198) the least: plate wearers get about half as many new pieces as leather wearers. Feet, waist and hands are the slots with the most new items; neck, rings and trinkets have far fewer, so those slots will change least from Classic.

  • Premier honor gear (537 items). “Premier” versions of the honor rank gear at item level 60 (needs level 55) and 65 (needs level 60), and “Premier Emboldened” seals the client says are used by high-ranking veterans to upgrade a slot. That is a new top tier for the PvP honor system, and the biggest single group of new epics.
  • Darkspear Islands (43). Rings, necklaces, trinkets and epic hands and shoulders named for the two sides of the Darkspear Islands battleground, the Darkspear Raiders and Theramore, plus rations, bandages, care packages and a Mark of Honor.
  • Craftsman’s Writs (184). The client describes each writ as a pending crafting order: bring the requested items and deliver them. With the Waylaid and Sealed Elite crates, that is an order system around professions that the profession tables alone don’t show.
  • Starter and crafted sets. The Zephrali pieces (32) are level 9 gear in every armor type, named for Zephras Isle, the Skyborne starting area. The Skyforged, Gustwoven, Windraveled and Stormsewn families (128) are low-level crafted sets with their own plans and patterns.
  • Level-up boxes (39). Boxes of gear and profession supplies for levels 23, 38, 57 and 60. They look like kits for premade beta characters; Blizzard has said there is no character boost planned (see the leveling guide).

New item sets

The client has 51 item sets Classic Era doesn’t. 16 of them only reuse the names of honor sets Classic Era already has. The 13 with new names are the telling ones: Champion’s and Warlord’s sets for Paladins, and Lieutenant Commander’s and Field Marshal’s sets for Shamans. Honor sets carry a faction’s rank names, so these are the sets Classic never needed: Horde Paladins (Undead) and Alliance Shamans (Dwarves). Each class gets a set per role, told apart by the 6-piece bonus: healing (Aegis, Wartide), spell damage and healing (Vindication, Thunderfist) or +40 attack power (Earthshaker). The rest follows Classic’s honor sets: the Warlord’s and Field Marshal’s sets give +20 Stamina at 2 pieces and a class bonus at 3 (10 seconds off Hammer of Justice, 2% crit with Shock spells), and the lower-rank Champion’s and Lieutenant Commander’s sets have the same bonuses at 2, 4 and 6 pieces in the reverse order.

22 more sets are named in the client while none of their pieces is. Most are class sets split by role (Rage, Storm, Eclipse, Ferocity): the datamined Tier 1 sets the raids guide lists, one for each of the 18 class and spec rows of set bonuses on the new spells page. Their pieces have no names yet, but their bonuses are in the client, and they are written by role: 2 pieces give 1% hit to casters and Rogues, 1% attack and casting speed to Hunters and the other damage dealers, 10 Spirit to healers and 7 Defense to tanks; 3 pieces improve a utility spell; 4 pieces add power against one creature type, healing and spell power for healers, and 1.2% fewer dodged or parried attacks for tanks; 5 pieces change a signature spell, several of them from later expansions (Riptide, Lava Burst, Penance and Prayer of Mending, Frostfire Bolt). Without the pieces, their level and where they drop are unknown.

What the level-60 epics favor

Counting the stats on all 342 new epic pieces that need level 60 shows who they are for. Stamina is on almost all of them (331). Next comes Intellect, on 220, far ahead of Strength (90) and Agility (56); spell power is on 107 and the paired spell damage and healing of healer gear on about 81. Critical strike (94) is the most common secondary stat, hit (5) is rare. In short, the new endgame epics lean toward casters and healers, largely because the Premier honor sets come in a caster and a healer version for several classes.

In the Forever client, hit and critical strike are ratings on the item (“+14 Critical Strike”), not the percentages of Classic’s “Equip:” lines: Classic items in the Forever client show them the same way, Lionheart Helm’s 2% hit and 2% crit as +20 Hit and +28 Critical Strike.

Premier honor weapons and pieces outside sets

Besides the set pieces, the Premier honor gear has 104 level-60 epics of its own: weapons, off hands, shields, belts and bracers at item level 65. The Horde and Alliance versions are the same item under two names, so they share a row here: 50 different pieces. One-handed weapons are about 47 damage per second and two-handers about 62, with attack power and critical strike for melee and spell power for casters; the belts and bracers come in a version for every armor type and role.

Curiosities

A few new items and what the client says about them
ItemText in the client
Dimensional Transporter - Mt. HyjalA dangerous amalgamation of Goblin and Gnome engineering techniques.
Hyjal Postal SatchelNeither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night...
Anduin Wrynn's Gold CoinI wish I would grow up, it feels like I've been 10 for years.
Lordaeron Forever Tabardnull
Corrupted Riverglades PendantOnce as pure as the rivers that flow through the Riverglades, now defiled.

The transporter is an Engineering item for Mount Hyjal, the pendant is named for the Riverglades, and the coin is one of a set of gold, silver and copper coins named for Warcraft figures, each with a line of its own.

Sources and scope

Every number on this page is counted by us from the item tables of the Forever beta client 1.60.1.69913 and the Classic Era client 1.15.9.69722, as wago.tools publishes them. The client doesn’t say where an item drops or whether it will be in the game at launch. How we count, and what we leave out: beta datamine methodology.

The Forever client no longer stores an item’s armor, damage and stat amounts; it works them out from scaling tables by item level, quality and slot. The tooltips and tables here use the same tables. Checked on the items both clients share, our numbers match the Classic Era client’s own for 98.8% of 5,546 stats, 97.5% of 2,913 armor values and 89.8% of 688 weapon damage ranges; the rest are mostly crafted weapons and armor whose Classic numbers were set by hand, where the Forever client’s own tables give a different number (Wowhead’s Forever database shows the same numbers we do). Ranged weapon damage is left out: no table reproduces it. Effect texts are filled in by the same renderer as the talent calculator’s texts; one with a value the tables can’t give is left out rather than guessed.

In the client, not confirmed

  • Being in the beta client doesn’t mean an item ships; items can change or be removed before launch.
  • Where an item drops, who sells it and what it costs aren’t in these tables.
  • Stats, armor and damage are worked out from the client’s scaling tables as described under Sources and scope; the client doesn’t say where an item drops or what it sells for.
  • Our groups are by name only; an item can fit a group’s name and have nothing to do with it.
  • The 1,815 unnamed IDs may be filled in by later builds.
