A new build with patch notes from Blizzard: 83 changes below, in our own words.
- Rain is easier to see.
- The Ray Traced Shadows option is removed until it works; Blizzard says it will come back.
- The Night Watchman’s Torch no longer causes lag in some situations, and it can be cancelled.
- Weapons in hand and sheathed on the back are drawn at a more consistent size across races.
- The level cap rises to 30.
- New dungeon: Excavation Site: Wetlands (levels 26 to 31).
- Razorfen Downs (25+) and Uldaman (30+) open, next to the eleven dungeons already available.
- Darnassus and Thunder Bluff get barbershops, every barbershop has barbers, and city guards give directions to them.
- Camping: the Boosted Rest debuff has a clearer icon and tooltip, and camp features that rule each other out are called “mutually exclusive”.
- Campfires no longer damage players below level 5 and deal less damage to players under 90% health.
- Savory Whimsyfin Delight turns you into an orc version of the Ninja and Pirate outfits of Savory Deviate Delight. The earlier transformations were placeholders.
- Selling a Bind on Equip item whose appearance you haven’t collected makes it soulbound (it became Bound to Account).
- Bear Form and Dire Bear Form generate 75% more Rage on a critical strike.
- Swipe scales with attack power again: 3% of it (bug fix). The tooltip follows in a later update.
- Tiger’s Fury is removed.
- Every shapeshift form is immune to Disarm. A Druid disarmed before shifting stays disarmed and deals less damage until it ends.
- Faerie Fire no longer resets your swing timer.
- Primal Bite: threat roughly doubled.
- The talent King of the Jungle is removed.
- New Feral talent Shifting Power (row 4, after Shredding Attacks): in Cat Form, turn 55% of base Mana into 40 Energy, 16-second cooldown. Its cost drops with effects that make shapeshifting cheaper.
- New Feral talent Improved Shifting Power (row 5): the cooldown of Shifting Power is 4/8 seconds shorter.
- New icons for Improved Stings and Predator's Edge.
- Sniper Shot, the 31-point Marksmanship talent, has a 45-yard range and adds 10 yards to your next 3 shots within 10 seconds.
- Deflection: Parry 1/2/3/4/5% (was 2/4/6/8/10%).
- Aggressive mode is back for Hunter and Warlock pets, on the pet tab of the spellbook.
- Tameable beasts that had pet ability ranks too high for their level are corrected; a pet no longer “forgets” such an ability.
- The Mage scrolls made with comprehension got another balance pass and can’t be cast while moving.
- Hot Streak is renamed Heating Up.
- Combustion: back to 3 charges (was 4).
- Improved Scorch’s Fire Vulnerability and Winter's Chill no longer roll a separate resist once the spell itself has hit.
- Redoubt: chance to Block 4/8/12/16/20% (was 6/12/18/24/30%).
- Holy Shield: chance to Block 30% (was 20%).
- Champion of the Light: Intellect to spell damage 20/40/60% (was 33/66/100%). Its tooltip no longer claims a healing bonus it never gave.
- Devouring Plague can critically strike (bug fix).
- Shadow Word: Death no longer gets Early Demise’s bonus at any target health (bug fix).
- Inner Focus no longer gives its critical strike bonus to periodic effects.
- Shadow Weaving can no longer fail to apply.
- A missed Expose Armor no longer costs all your combo points (bug fix).
- Setup adds a combo point to your current target only when that target is the one you dodged or resisted.
- Ghost Wolf is easier to see in well-lit areas.
- Disease Cleansing Totem lasts 5 minutes and Totemic Recall restores Mana (bug fixes).
- Drain Soul is interrupted when the Warlock starts another cast (bug fix).
- The Incubus pet uses a lower-resolution model.
- Hellfire can critically strike.
- Soul Harvesting is renamed Soul Harvest and now really gives its 50/100% Mana regeneration.
- Critical strikes with basic attacks generate extra Rage: the notes give 75% in one line and 100% (“was 75%”) in another.
- Rend and Sunder Armor tag an enemy for the Warrior at once.
- Queueing Heroic Strike no longer raises off-hand hit chance.
- Spearing Strike no longer needs a two-handed weapon; it needs Battle Stance.
- Dual Wield Specialization no longer raises off-hand Rage generation by 20/40/60/80/100% and no longer gives hit chance. A bug had it giving hit to both weapons.
- Unbridled Wrath no longer gives two-handed weapons twice the Rage. The notes also fix “Unbridled Rage” (their spelling) triggering less often than intended.
- Booming Voice: 10/20/30/40/50% larger area for your Shouts and 5/10/15/20/25% lower Rage cost.
- New Fury talent Lingering Rage (row 2): Rage starts to decay 2/4/6/8/10 seconds later after combat.
- Blood Craze no longer triggers from Bloodthirst casts.
- The talents Improved Cleave and Boundless Rage are removed.
- New Fury talent Furious Precision (row 3): 4/7/10% more chance to hit with off-hand attacks.
- Raging Blows lowers the Rage cost of Cleave and Whirlwind by 3. Whirlwind now always strikes with both weapons, without the talent.
- Flurry needs Death Wish instead of Enrage.
- New Fury talent Gore Drinker (row 6, needs Enrage): after Enrage, Berserker Rage, Bloodrage, Death Wish or Bloodthirst, your next 3 melee attacks restore 0.5/1% of maximum health.
- Berserker Rage is learned at level 30 (was 32), and Improved Berserker Rage moves to row 5 (was 6).
- Bloodthirst: attack power ratio 45% (was 35%).
- Protection is rearranged so a build without a shield reaches the middle of the tree: Iron Will comes over from Fury into row 1, Improved Bloodrage moves to row 1, Anticipation and Improved Revenge to row 2, Improved Disarm to row 3 and Improved Shield Bash to row 4.
- The Protection talent Toughness is removed.
- Cooldown Manager: racial abilities and Rogues are supported, and supported classes no longer get one entry per spell rank.
- Gamepad: the pet stable and the compact raid and party frames work with a gamepad, gamepad bindings are fixed (rebinding now changes keyboard and mouse only), and macros on a gamepad bar can be moved.
- Honor prices of PvP gear and upgrade tokens rise, most by about 50%.
- The Honor cap rises from 15,000 to 25,000 to fit the new prices.
- Shenthul in Orgrimmar trains Windshaper Skyborne.
- A number of Blacksmithing and Leatherworking recipes meant as random dungeon drops are now available.
- Enchanting: every crafted common and uncommon wand sells to vendors for 1 copper.
- Mining: fewer Poor Copper Vein nodes in starter areas.
- Skinning: a creature can be skinned only once again.
- Dungeon quests give 50% less of their extra experience on top of normal quest values, and some quest rewards are recalibrated. Blizzard ties it to feedback on leveling speed.
- Escort quests can be started with 25 or more quests in the log. Certain quest items no longer drop for everyone, and quests that hand out an item or start from one can’t be shared.
- Many creatures and objects respawn faster in Hillsbrad Foothills, Ashenvale, Wetlands, Duskwood and Thousand Needles.
- Single quests fixed or retuned in Darkshore, Dun Morogh, Loch Modan, Orgrimmar, Redridge Mountains (“Blackrock Blockade” is updated) and Westfall. Mulgore gets the quest “Kyle’s Gone Missing!”.
- Dungeon quests: “Destruction in Deadmines” and “A Frightened Request” (Ruins of Lordaeron) sort under their dungeon, the Bloodied Insignia is no longer handed out in several copies, and Serpentbloom Snakes in Wailing Caverns despawn after a couple of minutes.
- Druid quests: loot is reliable in “The Great Cat Spirit” and “The Great Windborne Cat Spirit”, and High Order Skyborne can do “Power Over Poison” to learn Cure Poison.
- Eureka! no longer benefits periodic effects. Channeled spells don’t count as periodic.
- Cannibalize can’t be used while immune to Physical damage.
- The character sheet now explains that spells cast at ranks far below your level get less from Spell Damage and Spell Healing and trigger class abilities and talents less often. Blizzard’s example: rank 1 Frostbolt at level 60 has a 0% chance to trigger Frostbite.
- Interface: Character Creation shows matching icons for Standard Definition models, new art for the stables frame and combo points, loot rolls in chat show full names, and the auction house shows item suffixes.
- World instances are adjusted, and a party leader should no longer be moved to another one when the party forms or changes.

Not in Blizzard’s notes
- Two Feral talents changed spots to make room for Shifting Power: Shredding Attacks moved up a row, and Predatory Instincts (now Natural Instinct) moved across its row.
- The Fury and Protection Warrior rework above was not in this build’s client data: the three Warrior trees were the same as on September 24. It arrived as a server hotfix.
Our comparison of this build’s talent data marks 20 talents as changed: talent changes of October 1.
Server hotfixes on this build
- First listed October 4 (UTC): the push that carries the Warrior rework of these notes. Fury gains Furious Precision, Lingering Rage and Gore Drinker and loses Improved Cleave and Precision; Protection takes Iron Will and loses Toughness; Bastion and Focused Rage swap, and five more talents move. Three other pushes of the same listing touch no talent.
