What Blizzard has said about Alcaz Prison

In the What’s Next panel Blizzard leaned on the island’s reputation: the Defias are said to have held nobles there for ransom, and rumour puts King Varian Wrynn in a cell on Alcaz Island. Today the Defias and the naga are fighting each other inside.

Blizzard’s recap calls the dungeon Alcaz Prison. Wowhead and others write “Alcaz Island Prison”, which is not the official name.

Kaivax’s September 15 table puts it at levels 48–53, and it is one of the five dungeons with an official screenshot.

Where Alcaz Prison is

The prison is on Alcaz Island, off Dustwallow Marsh. Wowhead’s dungeon overview places the island to the far north-east of the marsh — the same island Classic players can swim or fly to without getting inside.

At 48–53 it is the last dungeon before the level 55–60 pair, Blackmaw Hold and Shaper’s Terrace.
