WoW Forever Bank, Mail and Lost Loot: What Changes

In the Forever beta the default bank has 48 slots and 8 bank bag slots, loot you leave behind in a dungeon arrives by mail, and mail sent to a name reached the wrong character while two-part names are new.

A bigger bank: 48 slots in the beta

In the beta the default bank has 48 slots, double Classic’s, and the row of bank bag slots grows from 6 to 8, Wowhead reported on September 21.

That settles an earlier estimate. Before the beta, the developers told MMORPG.com the bank would be two or four times its original size, and that the bags you start with keep their original sizes. Wowhead adds, from the same interview, that the bank could grow again later, once players need the room.

A fifth bag slot? At BlizzCon, Warcraft Tavern saw a fifth bag slot in the demo and took it for a reagent bag slot, as in modern WoW. Blizzard hasn’t said what it is.
Less to carry. Warcraft Tavern also pointed out that mounts sit in a collection instead of your bags, and that transmog keeps an appearance after you get rid of the item, so neither needs bank space.

Dungeon loot you forget is mailed to you

Loot you leave on a corpse in a dungeon isn’t lost. In the beta, green, blue and epic items left behind arrive in your mailbox from the Steamwheedle Lost and Found, a goblin service run by Rix Xizzix that first appeared in Season of Discovery, Wowhead reported on September 21.

Blizzard hasn’t described the service itself yet, so what it covers is what players have seen in the beta’s dungeons.

Mail and two-part names

Forever has no realms. Every character has a first and a last name, like “Ana Forever”, and names are unique across your whole region rather than per realm, Blizzard said on the Deep Dive panel.

In the beta that caused a mail mix-up: players found that mail addressed by name reached another character with the same name, which also affected auction house mail and items sent to alts. Wowhead reported it on September 21 and advised holding off on mail until it’s fixed.

What this means for you

Don’t run back for a missed drop. If you leave a dungeon with loot still on a corpse, check your mailbox before asking the group to go back.
Plan for 48 bank slots and 8 bank bags. Double Classic’s default bank makes it easier to hold materials for two professions or a second set of gear, but it isn’t unlimited.
Mail your alts with care in the beta. Until the name mix-up is fixed, a parcel can reach a stranger with the same name; Wowhead suggests not using mail for now.
Pick a name nobody else will have. Names are unique across the region and mail finds characters by name, so reserve the one you want early: see WoW Forever name reservation.
