In the Forever beta, the quest Meddlesome Mages in Shen’dar Village on Zephras Isle gives Horde Druids an idol and Horde Shamans a totem from level 5. Alliance characters can’t get the quest. Both relics are new items in the beta client and save a little mana.

How to get them
Wowhead reported on September 23 that the relics come from a Horde-only quest chain on Zephras Isle, the Skyborne starting zone. You don’t have to be Skyborne: any Horde character can take the zeppelin from Skywatcher Plateau in Mulgore to Valanaar and walk to Shen’dar Village.
- Reach level 5 and go to Shen’dar Village.
- Pick up Welcome to Shen’dar Village and speak to Illaya Amberwind and Coriella Calmbreeze.
- Take Meddlesome Mages from Illaya Amberwind. It rewards the Druid idol and the Shaman totem.
- Alliance characters stop here: Amberwind won’t offer them the next quest, so an Alliance Druid or Shaman can’t get either relic.
The beta client (build 1.60.1.69913) has both quests, and its area table puts Skywatcher Plateau in Mulgore and Valanaar and Shen’dar Village on Zephras Isle. Its tables don’t say which faction can take a quest, so the Horde-only part is Wowhead’s report.

Both are common quality and bind when picked up, and both are new: the Classic Era client doesn’t have them. What 5 mana is worth depends on the rank of Lightning Bolt; these are the beta client’s costs for the first five ranks:

What this means for you
- Horde Druids and Shamans: do the quest at level 5. The relic slot is otherwise empty for a long time, and something beats nothing.
- Don’t expect much power. The totem’s saving shrinks with every Lightning Bolt rank, and at low levels a Druid rarely shifts often enough for 40 mana to matter much.
- Alliance Druids and Shamans miss out. In the beta, only the Horde gets a relic this early.
- It’s beta data. The quest and the relics can change before launch on November 4.

- Whether the Alliance gets relics of its own somewhere else.
- Whether Blizzard means the quest to stay Horde-only.
